Kickflip is a skateboarding mod for Quake. It boast 4 nicely animated tricks and 10 original maps(11 if you count the hub). Included with the game are two songs, the first one is 'Hit the road Jack' by Ray Charles and the other one is a song that sort of sounds like the menu music for the first Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game.
The maps that Kickflip comes with are for the most part in line with the mechanics of the mod. Nothing too fancy and most of the times, not too bland. One of the maps features a moving train which is pretty nice to look at but hardly adds to the map itself aside from a hazard if you stay anywhere in the direction the train is moving or inside killing you. Overall, most of the maps feature some form of geometry that lets you practice the tricks the game comes with.
Apart from Free Skating, there is also a competition mode that you can start by pressing 'M'. After a certain amount of time you will be scored by how many tricks you landed.
A nice feature added to the game is that you can add bots up to however many client slots you have open in your server. Besides randomly doing kickflips they like to skate around giving you some company while everyone else connects.
Generally it's a nice mod to install when you get bored but have time to mess around for a bit. Once you get the hang of the awkward controls, you will see yourself tricking off everything and maybe wonder off into the official Quake maps for more stunts to pull off.
The real fun comes when you have a group of people to play it with.
