First of all, This is just for me to vent out on thoughts that would otherwise be inappropriate on other sites but still post as if this was going to be read by thousands of people.
Now on to the first slice of meat of the update.
I recently decided to start hacking PSPs again but saw that the scene found a different way to do things. Instead of hard-modding your PSP, which if not done correctly can ultimately kill your PSP othwerwise called 'bricking', they found a way to copy Custom Firmware data into the PSP that effectively makes your PSP able to play your UMD backups as well as Homebrew; I'll get into that after this bit. I found a screencap plugin that I now use to make PSP wallpapers or just in-game snaps which you can take a look at in the gaming section of the site. This can help me start making reviews for PSP games since I have nothing else to do with my time except play video games. Even though I beg the forces of life out there to give me the perfect video capture plugin for my PSP so I can start uploading videos based on PSP games to my youtube channel, there hasn't been one.
Well on to showing you how to soft-mod your PSP into being able to play backup games and homebrew. Follow these steps carefully:
1a. First check to see if the firmware on your PSP isn't already 6.60 by going to System Settings and then going to System Information, otherwise skip to instructions '2a'. If it is not 6.60 then download THIS file and follow THESE instructions to updating your PSP to the required firmware.
1b. Your PSP should now be on firmware 6.60. If not then repeat the steps above.
2a. Next, you download THIS file and extract the contents.
2b. After you have done step 2a, copy the three folders into your K:\PSP\GAME folder.
3a. Now, you go to your games and look for PROUPDATE. Run it and follow the on-screen instructions.
3b. When the update is done, your PSP should restart or go straight to the XMB. To see if the update worked, repeat the step in 1a to checking your firmware. You should see 6.60 PRO-B9.
3c. If you want to make it permanet, try running the CIPL Flasher. If your PSP model is not supported, it will tell you and then quit the program.
4a. You should now be able to play PSP backups and homebrew, instal plugins to make your experience easiser, and run emulators. If you were not able to run the CIPL flasher you need to run Fast Recovery after every time you dhiy off PSP. When you are done, you can delete PRO UPDATE and CPIPL Flasher because you won't need these.
That is all I can tell you right now. Until next update blog.
